Launched in 2017 as the second program of our Mobile Operations of Dignity (MOD) Squad, our Street Boutique provides menstrual and incontinence products and brand new undergarments to people experiencing homelessness in San Diego County. The Street Boutique aims to address period poverty and prevent long-term health issues caused by lack of access to hygienic products and garments.
Our Process
The Street Boutique pops up at women’s shelters and/or public areas in San Diego County that are accessible for unsheltered individuals where guests can “shop” for undergarment sets, a month’s supply of menstrual or incontinence products, and additional hygiene items for free on a first-come, first-serve basis. We also have personal shoppers available on-site to assist each guest with their shopping experience.
COVID-19 Safety Measures
To ensure the safety of our guests, masks and social distancing are required on-site, regardless of vaccination status. All Street Boutique events are held outdoors to provide adequate spacing and air filtration, and shopping is limited to two guests at a time.
