Success Stories
Discover some of the real stories from our community about the ways Think Dignity has made a difference for people affected by homelessness.
In Essence, Dignity Delivered
While experiencing homelessness, Essence was convicted of unauthorized encroachment. As a result, her criminal record prevented her from renewing her license as a certified nurse assistant. Without an active license, Essence was unable to find adequate, secure employment; she struggled to maintain a stable shelter for herself and her three children.
Through our Dignity Legal Services program, we were able to expunge Essence’s record and connect her to an organization that supported her in obtaining employment.
Essence now has her own apartment, secured employment as a certified nurse assistant, and continues to be a positive role model for her children. For Essence, dignity was delivered!
Moving Forward
“The ID Bank helped get [my documents] quickly. It took the burden of recovering those things by myself off me. Now, I can move forward in my life.”

The Courage to Triumph
The Transitional Storage Center (TSC) gave Sammy enough time to overcome, what he called, his “fails.” Sammy, now a former TSC client, started 2025 with an amazing milestone; he recently checked out his belongings from our Transitional Storage Center.
When asked how the center positively impacted his life, he beamed with pride.
“It gave me enough courage to triumph and reach my goals!”
Before obtaining safe storage at the TSC, Sammy often resorted to hiding his belongings on the streets. He relented that he frequently experienced losing what property he had.
The Transitional Storage Center allowed Sammy to keep his belongings safe while he took steps to make positive changes in his life. “Without the TSC, I wouldn’t have been able to go out and get that job and find a place to stay.” Sammy has found stable housing, employment, and he has acquired a vehicle.
Freedom from Worry
“The stress of worry about what little bit I had left was a heavy burden. The storage center gave me freedom from worry!”
For TSC client D. May, the Transitional Storage Center allowed them to seek employment services and securely store their professional clothing. “I have a safe, clean personal storage bin that is out of the weather.”
D. May’s job search has been successful. “I will once again be a productive member of society!”
The Weight of Homelessness
Look around your space. Take in the sight of your belongings, every piece of clothing, knick-knacks, furniture, family photos and heirlooms… everything you own. Now, image that every time you had to leave your space to run an errand or go to work you had to take all your possessions with you. For many on the streets, that is the literal weight of homelessness they carry.
“I would have to carry around a lot of extra weight all day, and it would get in the way of my daily activities,” one client told us while checking out of the Transitional Storage Center (TSC). Without the TSC, this individual would have no safe place to store their belongings. “I would hold onto [my belongings] as long as I could, but if it was too much weight then I would have to let stuff go…”
New Beginnings
For another client, access to our services was crucial in his journey toward overcoming addiction. When asked how our services positively impacted his life, he proudly answered, “I was able to go to treatment for my addiction.” He shared with us his next steps: simply, to “find a crisis house.”
“[The TSC] kept my stuff safe and I am very thankful!” During his exit interview, this client let us know that he had found stable housing.
Going Back Home
“It’s been a great experience,” one Think Dignity client said of her time utilizing the TSC. We asked why it was time for this client to check out of the Transitional Storage Center, and she happily responded, “I’m going back home.”
