Kimberly Grady
In December 2024, the board of directors hired Kimberly Grady, MBM, to serve as Think Dignity’s Executive Director. Kimberly joins our leadership team with a proven record of nonprofit management and fundraising. Her passion for working with nonprofits and serving the community is evident in past efforts and successful campaign results.
A San Diego native, Grady is well-known for her remarkable achievements in the nonprofit sector. She served as Vice President of Community Development for San Diego Community Housing Corporation (SDCHC), working with SDCHC for 22 years. Grady managed a full staff, wrote grants, and cultivated important relationships to secure sizable donations to meet her annual multi-million-dollar fundraising goal.
In 2018, Grady relocated to the Greater New Orleans area, where she successfully executed a strategic plan for Combined Federal Campaign, aimed at raising over a million dollars for the southern Louisiana and Gulfport regions. In addition, Grady worked with the Sisters of the Holy Family’s annual Heavenly Host of Stars Gala to secure hundreds of sponsorships to meet that organization’s annual fundraising goals.
Grady was the first Chief Development Officer for Bastion Community of Resilience, a veteran service organization where she secured sustainable funding and fostered strategic partnerships.
Kimberly moved her family back to San Diego to take on the role of Think Dignity’s Executive Director in late 2024.
Grady holds several degrees and certificates in behavioral science, political science, forensic science, and business, nonprofit, and public management.

Howard Diggs
As the Intake Specialist, Howard aids in the management of the day-to-day activities of the TSC, which include running client check-ins and check-outs, processing intake forms and clients on the waiting list, providing resource navigation support for clients, updating and maintaining client databases, supplying personal hygiene products for clients upon request, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of facilities.

Cecilia Garcia
As the Community Engagement Coordinator at Think Dignity, Cecilia plays a role in fostering connections and driving impactful initiatives for the organization. With a dedicated focus on volunteer recruitment and event organization, Cecilia helps with Mobile Operations of Dignity (MOD Squad) such as Street Boutique and Supply Distribution Events, that provide essential resources and support to those in need. Cecilia also provides additional individual resource navigation support.
In addition to managing these events, Cecilia helps with the operations for Think Dignity’s ID Bank program, a vital service that helps store and secure important documents for individuals experiencing homelessness. This program is crucial in ensuring that community members can access the identification they need to regain stability and pursue opportunities.
Cecilia is a recent graduate of the University of California, San Diego, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Law & Society.

Jordan Leavitt-McGee
Jordan Leavitt-McGee is a dedicated professional, graduating from San Diego State University in May of 2023 with a dual degree in Criminal Justice (B.S.) and Psychology (B.A.). As the Programs Coordinator at Think Dignity, Jordan plays a pivotal role in the development and implementation of innovative initiatives, including the new ID Bank program.
She is committed to enhancing the organization’s existing programs, all aimed at advancing dignity for individuals experiencing homeles

Kaetlyn Loeffler Malatesta
Kaetlyn Loeffler Malatesta is a Programs Coordinator with Think Dignity, where she plays a key role in managing the recently-launched ID Bank Program, which provides secure physical and digital storage for essential documents that support individuals transitioning out of homelessness, as well as opportunities for individuals to apply for various forms of identification, free of charge.
In addition to her work with the ID Bank, Kaetlyn is instrumental in supporting the success of Think Dignity’s Mobile Operations of Dignity (MOD) Squad Programs, with a particular focus on the Street Boutique initiative, which offers clothing and hygiene supplies to unhoused women and children.
Kaetlyn holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice along with a minor in Sociology from San Diego State University, where she graduated this past May.

Danny McCray
As the TSC Site Supervisor, Danny manages the daily on-site activities of the TSC, which include overseeing client check-ins and check-outs, ensuring clients’ adherence to facility rules and procedures, monitoring client forms and data entry for the City of San Diego, producing accurate and timely reports of program status, maintaining client databases and file backups, supervising two on-site staff members, coordinating staff timesheets and time off requests, updating and tracking facility and administrative supplies, and assessing risk management of TSC facilities.

Our Board
Our board is deeply passionate about Think Dignity’s mission and vision. In addition to standard governance roles and responsibilities, board members serve as community leaders and actively fundraise and network to advance basic dignity. Serving on the Board is an excellent opportunity for community leaders, activists, seasoned professionals, budding entrepreneurs, and anyone else looking to make a read and lasting impact on the lives of others. Board membership is a rewarding experience, which allows you to give back to the community, showcase your leadership skills, and network with others passionate about our city and its diverse communities.

Ashley Bynum
Ashley moved to San Diego from Texas in 2017 and since has committed to connecting with and serving her new home with a focus on community building. Joining the Think Dignity board in 2021, Ashley sits on the Development and Governance Committees and co-chairs the Communications Committee.
Ashley received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2012, focusing on Operations Management. She has worked extensively in the marketing and sales organizations of global, publicly traded companies, as well as spent time consulting for affiliated NPOs. Her expertise lies in process design, program management, and event promotions.
Ashley was introduced to Think Dignity through a colleague and former board member, and instantly connected with the mission to advance and support the basic dignity needs of all community members. She remains involved with several other local causes including Rady Children’s, Biocom Institute, and Athena.

Matthew Wetcher
Matt Wechter is a Deputy Public Defender with the San Diego Office of the Public Defender and Supervisor of PACC – the Pretrial Advocacy and Community Connections Unit. Matt acts as a liaison between the Public Defender, Superior Court, District Attorney, City Attorney, and Homeless Court Providers (HCPs), and represents San Diego’s homeless population during monthly homeless court sessions and resource fairs, and executes the annual Homeless Court @ Stand Down, San Diego’s annual 3-day homeless veteran event. Matt is also a member of the San Diego County Continuum of Care Advisory Board, Alternatives to Incarceration Workgroup, and an advisor to the American Bar Association’s Commission on Homelessness and Poverty, which provides policy guidance and technical assistance to replicate the ABA/San Diego HCP model in jurisdictions across the country. At heart, Matt is a technology junkie – leveraging high-tech solutions where possible to support efficiencies with tight resources and to serve as many clients as possible.

Jen Brown
Jennifer is a CPA with a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Southern California and has over a decade of experience in auditing, finance, and corporate accounting. She is deeply committed to advancing dignity and equity for individuals experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable populations. Jennifer’s nonprofit experience includes mentoring former foster youth, tutoring underserved individuals, union organizing, and volunteering for organizations focused on poverty alleviation. Drawing on both her professional expertise and her personal experience with homelessness, Jennifer is passionate about supporting initiatives that prioritize equality, fosters long-term change and create meaningful impact in the community.

Alexi Silverman
Lexi proudly joined the Think Dignity Board of Directors in January 2023. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business marketing from the University of Arizona in 2015 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2018 with a concentration in health law. Hailing from Arizona, she now considers San Diego her home. While San Diego is known as “America’s Finest City,” Lexi believes in making the community better. As a board member of Think Dignity, she strives to use her legal background to advocate for the human rights and dignity of all San Diegans. Lexi is an associate attorney at one of the largest certified women-owned law firms in San Diego, Wilson Turner Kosmo LLP, which is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and community. In her free time, Lexi enjoys exploring San Diego with her fiancé Daniel and dog Fernando.

Rachel Jensen
Rachel co-founded Think Dignity, formerly Girls Think Tank, in October 2006 and held the position of President from then until July 2011. As Community Liaison Chair, she now focuses more of her time on engaging with stakeholders across the community.
Rachel is an attorney and partner in the law firm of Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, based in San Diego, California. At the firm, she prosecutes nationwide class actions against insurance companies and other large corporate actors.

Edward Borek
Edward J. Borek III has been volunteering his time and talents with Think Dignity since 2011 when a former board member introduced him to the organization. Edward has contributed to the gala planning team for years and has been a consistent participant at the Survival Supply Distributions each year taking on whatever role is needed of him. After nearly 15 years of volunteer service to Think Dignity and one year sitting on the communications and development committees, Edward joined the board of directors in late 2024.
Edward is Lead Program Analyst for the San Diego Miramar College Basic Needs Center where he develops initiatives to meet the food, housing, health, technology, transportation, and social wellbeing needs of low-income college students. Prior to this, Mr. Borek coordinated educational and immigration services for undocumented and immigrant individuals pursuing a college degree.
Borek earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, from the Fowler College of Business with a minor in interdisciplinary studies from the Weber Honors College at San Diego State University. His educational background focused in organizational and strategic management, access to social services, immigration and human rights.

Amelia Broadnax
My name is Amelia Broadnax, and I am the Operation Coordinator with Uptown Community Service Center. As the OC for Uptown Community Center, I am task to redevelop new programs, update the volunteer handbook to be interpret as a guide, manage member intakes, incorporate culturally driven trainings for volunteers, collaborate and build linkage with other service agency, prepare members for housing, and then housed members. My lived experiences of the morbidities of being homeless along with an educational background has allowed me to have a broad perspective on the unhoused community, and how services can be streamlined and provided. As the Founder and CEO of GLM (Grow Lead Motivate) Housing Inc., GLM House is a housing environment for individuals that are ready and motivated to elevate their current way of living.
I have performed duties as Residential Housing Coordinator and Housing Navigator for PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) and a Homeless Service Case Manager with FHCSD (Family Health Center of San Diego). I have studied at San Diego Community College where I earned my Associate degree in Alcohol and Other Drugs Substance. Upon completion of my associate degree, I was compelled to know more about how behaviors are altered during homelessness, which led me to look more into the world of psychology. I attended Argosy University and received my bachelor’s in psychology, and later my master’s in human service. I created a support group named Beaten Path. Beaten Path support group was developed for the clients within PATH housing program of 270+ residents. The group dynamic provided guidance toward behavioral modification.
My goal is to be a part of a team to create an effective and efficient procedures that will help capture data that will help in the funding source, while I continue to provide efficient customer service to our clients and create a safe and thriving environment for our volunteers.

Marilyn Harvey
Dr. Marilyn D. Harvey is a student-centered leader, seasoned educator, and dynamic professional with over 20 years of experience in advancing student and instructional services. She has a strong track record of leadership in higher education, having held pivotal roles such as Dean of Business, Technology, and Entrepreneurship and Dean of Adult and Continuing Education at Mt. San Jacinto College.
Marilyn’s expertise spans curriculum development, grant management, student success programming, and innovative transitions between non-credit and for-credit pathways, such as MSJC’s Culinary programs. Marilyn holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, a Master’s degree in Counseling, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Environmental Science and Business. As a product of the California Community College system, she deeply values her formative community college experience and its influence on her professional journey.
Recently nominated to serve on the Think Dignity Board, Marilyn continues her commitment to social justice and equity. She also served for two years on the Nominating Committee for the ACLU, further contributing to efforts that advance civil liberties and community empowerment.
Marilyn is the visionary behind Mvinyo Book Bar, an entrepreneurial endeavor blending her love for literature, community, and wine. This initiative reflects her dedication to creating spaces where culture, connection, and conversation thrive.
Beyond her professional and civic engagements, Marilyn is the proud mother of her son, Caleb, and enjoys a life filled with music, dancing, and meaningful moments shared with friends and family. She finds joy in savoring a great book and a fine glass of wine, embodying a vibrant spirit that balances her personal and professional life with grace and enthusiasm.

Nick Smith
Nick joined the Board of Directors as an At-Large Member in 2023.
Nick received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 2011 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 2014. Nick worked as a freelance journalist in Pasadena, where he reported on and participated in efforts to address homelessness in his community, including participating in Pasadena’s annual homeless count. Nick also worked for several years in the non-profit sector, starting an organization devoted to providing early childhood educational resources to families in underserved communities in San Diego County.
Nick received his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in 2019. During law school, Nick volunteered at Legal Aid Society of San Diego, providing legal advocacy and resources to low-income residents of San Diego County in its Consumer Division.
Nick is an associate attorney at Dummit Buchholz & Trapp, where he proudly represents hospitals, healthcare professionals and hospital employees in medical malpractice and general liability matters. In his free time, Nick enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, and their three pugs.

Kristi Steinberg
Kristi joined the Think Dignity Board in 2025 after retiring to San Diego from New Jersey. She worked for 26 years in the luxury automotive industry in Marketing, Customer Experience, and Market Research senior management positions. She earned her MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and her BA from Claremont McKenna College. Early in her career, she earned her CPA. Since moving to San Diego, she volunteers with Jewish Family Services and plans events as the treasurer of the Burlingame Neighborhood Association and as a leader of the San Diego chapter of the Claremont McKenna College alumni association. Kristi is looking forward to applying her skills to forward Think Dignity’s mission and to give back to the San Diego community.

Cynthia Woelfel
When Cynthia moved to San Diego in 2021, she began to volunteer at the Street Cafe and Summer/Winter Community Distributions. It became evident that the core values of Think Dignity aligned strongly with Cynthia’s desire to extend compassion to her unsheltered neighbors. Impressed by the programs, advocacy and leadership throughout the TD organization, Cynthia applied to become a board member. After 35 years serving her community as a clinical psychologist, Cynthia is now enjoying retirement. She hopes that her expertise in mental health, communication and the devastating consequences of trauma will enhance the board’s capacity to further their mission in meeting the needs of the homeless with dignity. Cynthia is currently the Chair of the Programs Committee.
Join Our Board
Think Dignity’s Board is both a governance and working board. That means Board members are responsible for guiding the organization to achieve its mission, vision, and strategic goals. Board members also provide financial oversight and ensure compliance with the organization’s legal and ethical requirements. Board members oversee and guide the Executive Director. And finally, as a working board, Board members help to fundraise and execute our programs as active volunteers.
